Rock ’N’ Read is a community-driven initiative operated in partnership with Neighborhood Alliance that supports new and expectant mothers with essential tools for early bonding and literacy. Historically, the program has provided handcrafted rocking chairs and curated book baskets to families participating in the Mercy Health Resource Mothers Program who demonstrate the greatest need. Through its expanded collaboration with Neighborhood Alliance, Rock ’N’ Read is positioned to deepen its reach and impact across Lorain County.

Since its founding in 2017, Rock ’N’ Read has donated more than 215 handcrafted rocking chairs and 3,650 children’s books to local families. The program’s mission is to equip mothers with comfortable, nurturing spaces and high-quality books that encourage meaningful bonding moments and foster a love of reading from the very beginning of a child’s life.
