Literacy Kits
What are literacy kits? Literacy and Learning Kits are at-home activity bags that always include an educational activity based on Fine Motor development, a book based on Social-Emotional development, and any parent/family resources.
Literacy and Learning Kits are still available at Rising Titans partner and advocate sites throughout the city of Lorain. These sites are: Lorain Public Library Main and South Lorain Branches (Partner) and Lorain Historical Society (Advocate)
Literacy Kits –
Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Rising Titans Collaborative focused on ‘Access’ with limited options on continuing Collaborative lead Kindergarten Readiness in-person programming. One of the ways we were able to accomplish this was through a Literacy & Learning Kit initiative – we completed this city-wide initiative with 1,301 distributed kits since March 2020.
This initiative brought monthly books focused specifically on Social-Emotional Development, as well as, Fine Motor Development activities in our famous yellow bags. Our kits were dropped off right at the doorstep of families’ homes. We thank our incredible volunteers for making this happen! And we thank the awesome Lorain parents for their dedication to their child’s school readiness!
As a Collaborative, we are ready to execute in-person programming. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks!
